The dual-face of software product modernization

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about "modernization"? With high probability, the initial thought might be related to "technology" - which for sure happens, but the real question is - what are we modernizing and why? In this short session we will go through various aspects of modernization, where technology is not the only one - and it stands next to organizational and business ones. They reinforce each other to build the right momentum, toward the unpredictable future, to be ready for challenges.

HPC as a Catalyst for In-House AI Innovation

Linux has long been the cornerstone of high-performance computing - and more recently, it has become the foundational platform for enterprise AI infrastructure. What began as a traditional sysadmin function has evolved into a strategic advisory role, with the Linux Team guiding the deployment and optimization of specialized HPC and AI workloads. In-house environments offer unmatched control, customization, and data governance, especially when dealing with latency-sensitive tasks or proprietary workflows. General-purpose AI models, often cloud-hosted, lack the domain-specific training needed for highly technical and commercially sensitive enterprise documents like proposals and internal processes. This talk explores the practical and strategic reasons for keeping HPC and AI capabilities in-house, and asks: Why in-house AI? Why in-house HPC? Shouldn’t this all be in the cloud?

Keynote speaker - "Risks and Threats of Artificial Intelligence" - Mateusz Biliński

Should we be afraid of artificial intelligence? More and more of us are starting to use software that is more or less based on AI. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of the risks it entails. AI has become a digital knife that, in skilled hands, can be a very helpful tool in our work, but we can also hurt ourselves with it. Worse still, criminals are increasingly using Artificial Intelligence as well. Fortunately, the same Artificial Intelligence can also be used to fight against criminals.

This lecture comprehensively addresses the topic of AI and debunks the myths that have grown around it. We will showcase spectacular life hacks and applications of AI tools that make everyday work easier. We will draw attention to issues concerning privacy and data protection in a world dominated by tools that use artificial intelligence models. And we will demonstrate how creative "prompting" can bypass the "ethical" blocks built into AI. Of course, solely for educational purposes :-)
